Who should Cain Velasquez meet next?

Mixed martial arts fighters Cain Velasquez, left, and Junior dos Santos pose for photos after a news conference in Los Angeles, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. Velasquez will attempt to defend his UFC heavyw
Cain has a record of 9-1, after losing to dos Santos fairly easily, whats next?
A while back Cheick Kongo rocked Cain just before Cain overriding Kongo's offense and winning. Also, with a, in my opinion, bad match up with Ben Rothwell who clearly wasnt out, in fact on his way up, was counted out in their match(KO). Was the first to KO a very ill(staph infection) BigNog, which gave him the title shot....Cain faced Brock Lesnar, which has been plagued with an illness, and returning after a long layoff, Brock couldnt roll with Cain at all, Cain is very talented, and his wrestling has served him well to overcome!!....but does his chin do him the biggest disservice to Heavy handed, top comp opponents? Kind of looks that way when you run down his resume.......

My top picks for best match up for Cain's next....
Which you never know what UFC wants to do, they could give him an easy opponent to get him a quick flashy win, or they could throw him a great up and comer to the top 5, where he could have a great contest!

My picks (5)

1. Shane Carwin(thats if Shane's injuries dont keep him out of the sport....Shane's hands could ruin Cain in the first! i also believe Carwin and Cain shouldve met a long time ago! but UFC wanted different roads for these 2 fighters!)
2. Fabricio Werdum(Submission professional, could pull off an amazing upset of Cain the wrestler, which would go to the floor with Fabricio!)
3. Alistair Overeem(if he loses to dos Santos)(Overeem could out strike Cain, IMO, and probably do very well with him on the ground, and possibly sub him!)
4. Frank Mir(could stand well with Cain and do well on the ground, and also could pull off a sub, if Cain doesnt KO Mir on his feet...or Vice Versa)
5. Roy Nelson(Could possibly out wrestle Cain and beat him up on the ground, and/or the famous Iron Cross, lol, Roy has a Chin of granite and, Cain's strikes being great, wont do much to Nelson!)

Honorable mention: Cheick Kongo, Antonio Silva, Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett, which i believe Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett will both be in the UFC after the tournament.

Cain being an ex-champ should face a top opponent, but being that UFC likes to properly place certain fighters in the right setting, who knows at this point. not knocking them, but he could face a Brendan Schaub or a Gabriel Gonzaga, which still would be decent tests, decent at best, or at least they should be!

What's next for Cain?

  1. I would like to see Cain and Mir....it's a pretty even matchup and would be a battle!
