UFC on FUEL TV 5 Postfight thoughts....

1st off.....
This was a sweet card for being FREE!!

im gonna discuss the fights of the night and then go into what could happen after, imo...


Gunnar Nelson Scores a sweet win over Demarcus Johnson, very loose and full of power...getting Demarcus to the ground and seeking the choke, only to get it, fairly easily!! Very impressive debut!!
Im excited to see what this Gunnar has next! :) He did that well, and looked fresh all the way through against a very game opponent!!

John Hathaway, Stayed busy and kept Maguire at bay for most of the fight, he picked his offense well and rounded out a 30-27 unanimous! Cant complain about that! He needed it, now maybe he can get back on track being a younger fighter that ran into some trouble!!

Matt Wiman vs Paul Sass, Wiman proving that he is still honing his craft and crafting a beautiful Armbar submission, which was not expected, but was great to see against a great submission "magician" as john the Goofy Fuel announcer might say!!! lol
Great display for Wiman! but a learning experience for Sass, being new he should bounce back nicely!

Brad Pickett "one punch" has significant meaning for this fight as he "uppercuts" Yves Jabouin out of the fight, yet in the first round! Living up to his name and taking his hat off to Yves!

Dan Hardy vs Amir Sadollah....Hardy needed this win, and Sadollah didnt let him have it that easily!
Hardy had to grind out a Decision and be happy with it, Amir was in his face the whole night and wasnt backin down! i was honestly impressed with Amir for his improved game, but Hardy was able to edge out a decision win, but he will have to be more convincing to get a title shot, thats for damn sure!!

Stefan Struve vs Stipe Miocic!
I picked Miocic, Damnit!
Miocic has a sick gameplan no matter who you are, but he could get around Struve's improved jab performance and keeping Stipe outside and capitalizing! he catches Stipe mid 2nd round with a few nasty shots, and Miocic finds himself searching for normalcy!!! He didnt find it and Struve ends the streak of a badass newcomer!!! i was Wowwed!!! i expected Stipe to pound out Struve before Struve had a chance to dig in, but i was wrong! isnt the first and wont be the last!!!
Stefan Struve is still growing and learning, and plans to move forward in the Heavy Weight Division!
just plain Sick!!!


What could be next for the highlighted fighters?

If what Dana said i true, Struve is now the No.5 fighter, who should he take on next?
hmm.....
lets take a look...
Ben Rothwell....
Shane Del Rosario....
or Mike Russow....
I dont think that any of these guys are near top 5, but would be a damn good match up for Struve's next opponent!

Now in the Top 5.....
Struve would likely be facing....
Alistair Overeem...
Fabricio Werdum....
or Cain Velasquez....

As a 24 year old fighter, its hard to see him taking out these fighters, but we are talking about someone who is coming into his own with establishing distance, being ready in a ground match! and nearly at will with SUBS!
Some like to say he has a questionable Chin, but we shouldve seen that tonight, and we didnt.....
something to think about!
What is next for Struve?

Dan Hardy pulled out a decent Decision win over Amir Sadollah!
Decent at best!
If Dan Hardy can beat Matt Brown, then i say give him Jon Fitch!
Can someone please give Fitch a little more respect?
Fitch has earned a title shot 3 times over, but because he hasnt KO'd someone recently he doesnt get it. thats not cool!
Fitch will EAT Hardy alive!!!

Brad Pickett....after Ko'ing Yves Jabouin, i say give him Eddie Wineland or Brian Bowles....if he gets that far, Give him Faber!
oh yeah!

Matt Wiman gets Jamie Varner next! Makes great sense, Varner coming off a loss, but still has to prove his stance in UFC being so new back in the big game! Would be a great shot for Wiman! ut yet not impossible for Varner and could get him back in winning ways!

Was a very cool night of fights! and they were free, no complaining here!!!
