Dan Henderson wants nothing more than to become the UFC light heavyweight champion.
Henderson will get his opportunity this September when he collides with Jon Jones at UFC 151. Henderson has won four consecutive fights, including a victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to work into title contention.
For the majority of his career, “Hendo” has been a man that the crowds seem to embrace, enjoying his swing-for-the-fences style and always happy attitude. Jones, however, is someone that has come under the microscope of the MMA world, including a recent DUI charge after his crashed his Bentley into a pole.
“For some reason, a lot of fans don’t like him and they’re wanting him to lose,” said Henderson, in a recent interview with Karyn Bryant of MMA HEAT. “I’ll gladly step in and fill that role.”
Henderson has put together an incredible career, winning 29 fights against just six defeats. His last loss came to Jake Shields in 2010 when both men were in Strikeforce.
