First and foremost...Ive recently made a statement of why we cant consider Brock an "Icon" like he is listed on UFC's home page. But this post is beside all that! i want to take a look at Brock as a whole and see a good opponent for him!!!
Cheick Kongo, good striker, but Brock would take him down quick! If Kongo could get to the 2nd round, hmm, but probably would be the same as the 1st, who knows?...
Mark Hunt, Great striker, Would mangle Brock before any take down....
Frank Mir, Mir would be retarted not to unload strikes in a match like this, and hire a boxing coach for the occasion, as he should already! But i dont even wanna see this fight, but i would still watch....
Roy Nelson, would probably do well against Brock's wrestling, maybe not great, but i think can pose a big threat with overhand rights! Brock needs to train and get over the punch thing, he needs a serious boxing coach! He has great natural talent, but doesnt know it all, so some help with Boxing would take him strides!!
Shane Del Rosario would be a big threat to Brock's position in UFC and could hurt him badly in terms of top 10 status.! But Brock could possibly outwrestle and avoid some Bad strikes from Shane.
Velasquez, Dos Santos, Overeem, and Carwin are all bad ideas, ...maybe not Carwin, that could be good! if Brock goes into survival mode again, and Shane makes the same mistake twice, or Brock rehauls his Boxing all together, dont see that happening without a few years, dont know...
Antonio Silva is my vote! He's on back to back losses in UFC, just like Brock, Lesnar could take him down, i dont see a problem there! So this could be a good match for Brock!
The truth is, about Brock, is that he was brought in, with $$$$ in Zuffa's eyes, he ran with it and did great, but if he had been brought in normally like any other up and comer, i think his career would be different, he would learn more and grow better as a fighter! Maybe its time for that? We've all heard the rumors of a possible return! that would be the best way in my opinion!
In the end, if it doesnt help his career, and he doesnt stick around, it just aint his thing!
But 5-3 isnt a record to leave the sport on, i think, so hopefully we can see a respectful return and exit if the rumors are true!
But i see a Good opponent in Antonio Silva, at this point!
