Jake, in my opinion, barely pulled off his win over Akiyama!
He looked like he hadn't trained differently or done much different since the GSP loss.
After taking the loss from GSP and being KO'd by Ellenberger, he had to do something, but yet fell down the ladder far enough to face Akiyama, which i didnt think Akiyama would do all that great in that fight, but he did! But Jake seemed to pull out the win in the judges eyes, so back to the drawing board! Jake also lost his Father nad Manager a short time before the Ellenberger fight, he has to get respect for going into that fight under such great pressure!!!
Now Jake is mulling over a return to the Middleweight Division, and wants to face the top guys and continue....
Great idea, but is a shot at guys like Anderson, Chael, Bisping, Belfort, Boetsch, Leben, Munoz, Weidman, Stann and lots of other good fighters to face gonna be a fun road?
Jake had a bad time at 170 and maybe a return 185 will show more power in his striking and a more comfortable place for him to work his game. We shall see!!
Sometimes being outside your normal weight class can bring harder times! His striking, in my opinion, didnt look the same, he didnt seem to be able to work his ground game as nicely either! Get back to 185!!
